Barer Institute for Law and Global Human Services
The Barer Institute was created by a gift from UW Regent and law school campaign chair Stan Barer '63 and his wife, Alta. The Institute, is an interdisciplinary
effort based in the law school, focusing on the multidisciplinary role of law in
promoting health, education, and economic development. The goal of the Institute
is to utilize lawyers as leaders in providing advice and solutions to these
issues in lower and middle income developing countries. Currently, the Inaugural
Class of Barer Institute Fellows are earning their LL.M. degrees in Sustainable
International Development.
Applications are now being accepted for the 2013-14
class of Fellows.

Barers pledge $4 million to UW School of Law
The University of Washington School of Law has received a $4 million pledge from UW Regent Stanley Barer '63 and his wife, Alta, to create the Barer Institute for Law and Global Human Services.
