LAW P552 Strategic Intellectual Property Commercialization
Credits: 3-3, Variable
This course will address issues related to exploitation of intellectual property rights as a business asset for new enterprises, or as a source of income for existing enterprises. The course examines the entire process of transferring technology including analysis of patent portfolios, development of a commercialization strategy, and ultimately negotiation and drafting of technology transfer agreements. Issues to be covered include cross-licensing; evaluating the intellectual property portfolios of other parties; and issues specific to various industries such as computer software, biotechnology, and e-commerce. Prerequisite: LAW P501 Intellectual Property Law Core or LAW E567 Survey of Intellectual Property.
