Students will work with an approved non-profit organization, judicial or legislative body, or governmental agency on issues related to intellectual property law and policy. No monetary compensation will be received by the students for their work. Students will work under the guidance of one or more experienced practitioners who, at the end of the academic period, will provide the supervising faculty member at the Law School with a final report describing and evaluating the student's work. The student will also submit a report at the end of the practicum. One academic credit may be awarded for every 30 hours of work up to a maximum of 4 credits per quarter. Not more than 6 credit hours of externship courses may be counted toward IP Program degree requirements, except by permission of the Program Director. Grading will be on a credit/no credit basis.
