The course addresses health policy development within the context of the American political system in terms of process and key issues. Process content follows the general structure of classic policy-making: formation, implementation, and modification with reference to historical analysis and major political institutions. Key issue content will focus on recent reform efforts regarding the finance and delivery of health care services - origins and aftermath. Also addressed are the crisis in the health insurance market and pending Medicaid reforms. Prerequisite: HSERV 511 or permission of instructor. (HSERV/EPI 553) (Not offered 2009-2010 academic year.)
