Law H580 Advanced Health Law

Offered: [Spring]
Credits: 3

Advanced Health Law will enable the student interested in health care law to consider the impact of antitrust law, fraud and abuse prohibitions, the corporate practice of medicine doctrine, tax law and other state and federal laws upon emerging health care entities. Each of these areas of law and their relevance to health care delivery and financing will be reviewed in the context of their historical importance. However, the focus of the course will be on integrated health care delivery systems, acquisition of physician practices, and mergers and affiliations of existing health care payor and delivery arrangements and the problems arising as these new health care systems seek to - or fail to - comply with existing law and regulation. Prerequisite H501 Fundamentals of Health Law.
