Comprehensive coverage of issues related to exploitation of intellectual property rights as a business asset for new companies, or as a source of income for existing businesses. The course examines the entire process of licensing technology including analysis of patent portfolio, development of licensing strategy and ultimately to negotiation and drafting of licensing agreements. Other related issues to be covered include cross-licensing, evaluating the intellectual property portfolios of other parties, and issues specific to various industries such as computer software, biotechnology, and e-commerce. Prerequisite: A546 Patents.
