Law B551 Comparative Law Seminar

Required seminar for LL.M. candidates in East Asian and comparative law, covering individually selected research topics in partial satisfaction of post graduate independent research requirements. During autumn quarter the seminar will focus on an introduction to materials and comparative methods for analytical research in East Asian and American law, the selection of an appropriate topic, and initial research. The winter quarter will be devoted to completion of research and writing an initial draft. Each student is required to make a formal presentation of this subject during the spring quarter. For LL.M. candidates, an additional 6 credits will be given for the completed written paper as independent postgraduate research (Law 600A Graduate Research). J.D. candidates interested in engaging in a significant research project involving East Asian law with an opportunity for formal oral presentation and critique may enroll with the instructor’s permission.
