Courses 2009 - 2010
Law B529 Advanced Environmental Law and Practice Seminar
Offered: [Winter-Spring]
Credits: 4
2009 Focus: This seminar is entitled "End of Nature." It will be co-taught by Professor Rodgers and Professor Melanie Rowland, who is the NOAA Fisheries "endangered species expert" and co-author of the treatise AMERICAN WILDLIFE LAW. As you may know, nonhuman species are the "most threatened" by climate change. Case law on this topic is forthcoming at an extraordinary rate. Conflicts are highly politicized. We will deal with all aspects of the "extinction crisis" we now find ourselves in. Class sessions will be devoted chiefly to meeting experts in the field and the study of ongoing cases. Students will be expected to write papers on selected aspects of cases that have been--or soon will be--contested in public fora.
