LAW A544 Transnational Commercial Law

The course examines the political economy of transnational commercial law, considering its nature and sources, the institutions and methods through which it is develops, and some key problems involved in harmonization of commercial law. Select international harmonization instruments (e.g., Cape Town Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment, UNCITRAL Model Law on Cross-Border Insolvency, Vienna Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods) are used to illustrate and critique different methodological and institutional approaches.
