Criminal Prosecution Clinic
Operated Winter Quarter 2014 in collaboration with the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and the law school’s Trial Advocacy Program, this clinic provides students with an opportunity to experience the role of the prosecuting attorney in King County District Court.
Third year Rule 9 qualified students will represent the State in misdemeanor cases, including trials or pre-trial hearings, under the supervision of a Senior Deputy Prosecutor assigned exclusively to the clinic. In addition, students will participate in a seminar focused primarily on prosecutorial ethics and the exercise of prosecutorial discretion as they relate to systemic criminal justice issues. The seminar will also address specific criminal law and procedure, local practice rules, and skills, as needed.
