CASRIP Hosts Worldwide IP Resource Development Consortium: Comparative IP Academic Workshop

CASRIP has developed English summaries of 50 German intellectual property (“IP”) cases, 40 Italian IP cases, and 30 French IP cases, which will be incorporated in the RCLIP on-line database in May. Through the database project, CASRIP and Waseda’s RCLIP have developed a worldwide IP Resource Development Consortium.

On July 25, 2009, leading European IP research institutes, including Queen Mary School of London; CEIPI, University of Strasbourg; and Dusseldorf University joined CASRIP at the University of Washington School of Law to host an annual workshop for young scholars to promote comparative IP research using the IP case database. From 2009 onwards, faculty members and their Ph.D. students will meet annually to discuss the database project and to give students opportunities to present their dissertations. Leading academics from the jurisdiction of the hosting institute will be invited to comment on students’ dissertations.

CASRIP hosted the first workshop in conjunction with its fifteenth anniversary of the CASRIP Summer Institute.

The following are the names of the speakers and the papers that have been presented at the IP Academic Workshop on 25 July 2009 in Seattle.
