About Career Planning

Services for Students

Career Coaching

Coaching is focused on assisting students toward making key connections to learn and discover multiple career paths and to think broadly about all the possibilities that are available for future externships and employment. Every student is assigned a personal Career Coach. Coaching addresses both the strengths and weaknesses of the student entering the job market. Discussions focus on acquiring necessary skills in writing resumes, interviewing, and professional etiquette. Coaching agreements outline both the Coach and students responsibilities.

Coaching by Phone

Students may receive career coaching in half hour intervals by phone. Students have the opportunity to discuss career development issues such as salary negotiations, interview preparation, including mock interviews, and resume reviews.

E-Mentoring

Students who wish to pursue careers outside of the immediate area can be paired with a mentor residing in a destination outside the of the immediate area. The purpose of the eMentoring program is to identify other locations where students may seek employment following graduation. eMentoring schedules 2 conference calls for students with mentors. The agenda for each conference call is set in advance. The Program will be limited to 10 mentors the first year.

Special Events and Seminars

Career Planning staff offer workshops on resume writing, interview skills, applying for grants, using Symplicity and many other aspects of your career search. View our Event Calendar to see the most recent offerings.

Core Programs

Career Planning has a number of programs that students may participate in. These include On Campus Interviewing, Career Fairs and Off Campus Interviewing. Visit the Students page for all our program offerings.
