Successful Careers of Past Judicial Clerks
Presentation by practicing attorneys whose career paths included a judicial clerkship

Join us to learn more about judicial clerkships and the real life experiences of judicial clerks.

•Aurora Bearse – Commissioner Aurora R. Bearse was appointed as a court commissioner for Division II of the Court of Appeals, effective May 1, 2012. Prior to her appointment, Commissioner Bearse served as administrative law judge for the Washington State Office of Administrative Hearings, she also served as the Assistant Director for Judicial Relations when she worked at the UW School of Law Center for Professional and Leadership Development. She was a judicial law clerk for Judge Robert R. Beezer (9th Circuit) and Judge William H. Walls (DNJ). Aurora graduated from Rutgers-Newark School of Law.
•Ramsey Ramerman-City of Everett-City Attorney’s Office in August 2009. His focus at the city is on appeals and open government issues. He graduated from the University of Washington School of Law in 2000, where he has served as managing editor on law review. He clerked for Elaine Houghton on the Washington Court of Appeals II.
•Joseph Schaeffer Joe practices primarily in the areas of employment and civil rights litigation in federal and state court at MacDonald Hoague & Baylesss. Joe graduated from the University of Washington School of Law in 2002 and clerked for the Honorable Marsha J. Pechman of the Western District of Washington 2002-2004 and Honorable Betty Binns Fletcher of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals 2004-2005.
•Professor David Ziff is a Lecturer at the University of Washington School of Law, he teaches first year Legal Analysis Research and Writing Program. He graduated from Columbia Law School, and clerked for Judge Gerard E. Lynch of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York and Chief Judge Dennis Jacobs of the United State Courts of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
