Asian Law Center
Ph.D. Program Administration
A defining feature of the Law School’s Ph.D. program is its comprehensive administration by the Graduate Program Assistant, Mie Murazumi, B.A. (M.A. Oxon.) Physics; J.D. UW ’01. Prior to joining the Asian Law Center, Mie was a diplomat in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan for twelve years and was admitted to the Washington Bar in 2001. Mie is responsible for Ph.D. admission, orientation, course selection, academic status, doctoral committee formation and Ph.D. examinations. More importantly, she monitors candidates’ progress and provides invaluable advice on the student-supervisor relationship and work-life balance.
The Law School demonstrates its support for its Ph.D. students through a dedicated, comfortable Ph.D. office, now located in the Gallagher Law Library. This room is equipped with study desks, filing cabinets, a computer and a printer, and can accommodate seven Ph.D. students at the dissertation writing stage of their projects.
