Visiting the Law School

What better way to understand what it is like to be a law student at the University of Washington School of Law than to visit us at William H. Gates Hall. We invite you to take a tour of the building, visit and observe a law school class, meet with the Office of Admissions & Financial Aid staff, and get a real taste of law student life by spending time with our Student Ambassadors.

Planning Your Visit

The building is open to the public on weekdays during regular business hours (9am to 5pm). Visits and tours are scheduled through the Office of Admissions & Financial Aid. For directions to William H. Gates Hall and information about parking on campus, please click here.

You will get the most out of your experience if you visit during the academic year when classes are in session. We recommend scheduling your visit around lunchtime or in coordination with our guided tours and designated law school class schedules (see below). The tours are scheduled to allow the opportunity to visit a class- either before or after your tour. During lunch hours from 12:30pm to 1:20 pm, we encourage you to walk around the first floor and Marian Gould Gallagher Law Library to get a sense of our law school community as we host various student organization meetings, guest speakers, and workshops taught throughout the quarter.

Building Tours

Guided Tours: A guided tour of our law school building is offered at 12:30pm each weekday. Between May 30, 2012 to October 2012, guided tours will be available on Wednesdays and Fridays only.  Guided tours are by appointment only, scheduled in advance, and last approximately thirty (30) minutes. Tours can be scheduled in advance by submitting a Visit Request Form.

Self-Guided Tours:  Visitors who wish to tour the building on their own may pick up a Self-Guided Tour booklet at the Office of Admissions & Financial Aid.

Walk-in Visits

While we encourage you to schedule a visit in advance, we also welcome walk-in visitors. Please stop by the Office of Admissions & Financial Aid, Room 231, to pick up a Self-Guided Tour booklet. We would be happy to answer any questions about the School of Law and our admissions process.
