Visiting the Law School

The best way to understand what life is like as a University of Washington law student is to visit the School of Law when classes are in session. We invite you to observe one of our large section first-year JD classes, take a tour of the building, meet with staff in our Admissions and Financial Aid offices, or get a real taste of law student life by spending some time with one of our JD Student Ambassadors.

Please see the Academic Calendar for school closures and examination periods.

Admissions and Financial Aid

If you have questions/concerns not addressed on our website and are interested in only meeting with Admission and/or Financial Aid, and not spending time with a student ambassador or visiting classes, feel free to just contact our offices and set up an appointment.

Visiting During the Summer or Interim Periods

The best time to visit the law school is during the regular academic school year, in order to see what life is like as a UW law student.

Although Student Ambassadors are not available during the summer nor when classes are not in session, visitors are welcome to meet with Admissions staff during business hours and can explore our technologically sophisticated facility, including the centerpiece of William H. Gates Hall, the Marian Gould Gallagher Law Library, which houses the largest legal collection in the Northwest. Please see the Gates Hall information page for directions and building hours.

If you would like to meet with Admissions and/or Financial Aid while you are visiting, please make an appointment by contacting our offices.

Additional Visit Information

Applicants interested in any of the Ph.D. or LL.M. law programs should contact the individual program about visiting.
