A J.D. student who intends to take courses at UW Law for one or more quarters
may apply for admissions as a non-degree candidate. The applicant must be attending an ABA-accredited law school
and the applicant must have been granted permission from their respective law school to attempt courses at UW Law.
Students who wish to apply as a non-degree applicant should submit their
application according to the following deadlines:
- Summer Quarter – June 1
- Fall Quarter or Full Academic Year – August 1
- Winter Quarter – December 1
- Spring Quarter – March 1
Please note that semester-hour credits are converted to quarter-hour credits at
a ratio of 1:1.5; e.g., 30 semester-hour credits will convert to 45 quarter-hour

Federal Financial Aid
Non-degree students are not eligible to receive federal financial aid through
the University of Washington. Those students must consult their financial aid
department at their respective law school.
Upon receiving an offer of admission into UW Law, students are required to map
their curricular options with the Associate Dean for Students.
