What to Do Before Orientation

Here is a checklist of actions to complete before orientation. Please review these items and deadlines carefully.

  • February 28: Apply for Financial Aid
    Submit your FAFSA application.
  • March 15: Apply for Scholarships
Submit the application online. The application will be available January 1.
  • April 5 & 6: Admitted Students’ Weekend
Join us for a preview of “life at law school,” where you will meet fellow 1L classmates, current students, alumni, faculty, staff & administrators. Events include campus tours, class observations & overviews of student organizations, activities & clinical programs.
  • May 1: Submit Enrollment Confirmation Deposit

Send your $500 deposit to secure your spot. You may check the receipt of your deposit by logging onto the online status checker using the username/password you created when you applied.  Once we receive your deposit, it will reflect as “deposit paid”.

Make checks payable to “University of Washington” and mail to:

Office of Admissions & Financial Aid
University of Washington School of Law
William H. Gates Hall, Box 353020
    Seattle, WA 98195-3020
  • July 31, 2012: Submit an Official Undergraduate Transcript
Your offer of admission is contingent upon receipt of an official transcript showing record of your Bachelor’s degree. The transcript received with your CAS report is unofficial & does not meet this requirement. Have your undergraduate institution send your transcript directly to our office. You may check the receipt of your transcript by logging onto the online status checker using the username/password you created when you applied.
  • Before Registration: Set up your UW NetID & E-mail
Your UW NetID allows you to access the University-only web information, including MyUW, your personal student portal to register for classes, view & pay your tuition and create your e-mail account.
  • Before Registration: Submit your Immunization Form
All students at the UW are required to complete this form before they can register. For more information, click here. Send the form electronically to measles@uw.edu.
  • Before Orientation: Register for Classes
Detailed information & directions will be sent mid-August.
  • Before Orientation: Submit the Washington Institutions of Higher Education Residence Questionnaire
This form is required only of those students who are Washington Residents currently living out-of-state. Contact the Residency Office at resquest@uw.edu or 206-543-5932 if you have questions.
  • Before Orientation: Statement of Financial Responsibility (International Students Only)
Complete the Statement of Financial Responsibility &  I-20 forms. Also consider attending the Summer Institute in Transnational Law and Practice in early September.
  • Notify us of any address, phone number or e-mail address changes
E-mail contact information changes to lawadm@uw.edu
