At the University of Washington School of Law our innovative, student-focused learning environment prepares students to become highly skilled lawyers in a globally competitive world, with a strong foundation in legal theory, the skills necessary for success in the changing legal profession and an awareness of their ethical and public service responsibilities.

We believe that legal education is an active process — the sum of a variety of experiences and interactions that not only impart knowledge, but that nurture perspectives vital to the responsible practice of law. We strive to create and maintain an environment in which our students become skilled legal thinkers in the company of diverse and exceptional peers; where they explore new and complex legal questions in collaboration with expert faculty and skilled attorneys; where they serve others in the pursuit of social justice and professional excellence; and where they can participate as active citizens in their school, university and community. At the UW School of Law it is our goal to lead in the delivery of professional legal education by preparing students for the challenge of practice in the 21st century, and by producing influential scholarship dedicated to the development of law, legal institutions and policies that advance justice throughout the nation and the world.

We invite you to join our mission.
